The beautiful and strong Princess Elizabeth at just 25 years old, photographed here by the Duke of Edinburgh as she flew back to England to become Queen after her father’s death.
We would love to have this clock to keep tabs on Jubilee timings. It was made for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee and is up for grabs on 1stdibs.com.
From one scrapbook to another…
We are loving the first edition of Cecil Beaton’s scrapbook - it’s a unique panorama of life in the twentieth century as seen through the eyes and lens of this amazing man. We love the articles about christmas, the Silver Jubilee of 1935, Palm Beach, New York and Hollywood and all the characters he knew loved there.
As Jubilee weekend looms, we have fallen in love with Chris Levine’s holographic royal portrait all over again!
This is London’s oldest surviving shop front built in 1756, so beautiful.
We were very sad to hear the news about Vidal Sassoon this morning.
This London rain is making us long for some old fashioned riviera sunshine - we would love to be poolside at the Chateau d’Horizon, Cannes where Rita Hayworth and Prince Aly Kahn were married in 1949. You can see a short video of the wedding here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxYsXr5kG74
We love the Helmut Newton retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris… The exhibition brings together more than two hundred of his photographs and there is also a great film made by his wife of sixty years, the photographer June Newton: Helmut by June.
Here is one of Newton’s images of the beautiful Catherine Deneuve.
We want want want these antique pharmacy bottles… such beautiful fonts
